Bullfrog

Rana catesbeiana

Identification: largest frog; mostly green above; possible pattern of gray or brown; whitish venter sometimes mottled with gray and a yellow wash; no dorsolateral ridges

Habitat: aquatic; prefers larger bodies of water such as lakes, ponds, bogs; usually seen along edge of water or amidst vegetation

Voice: low pitch sounding similar to a bass fiddle

Range: Nova Scotia to central Florida, west to Wisconsin across the Great Plains to the Rockies; introduced to British Columbia, California, Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica
