The White Perch, of the family Percichthyidae, averages 8 to 10 inches in length, and inhabits brackish waters in bays, as well as freshwater lakes and rivers. It has a range from the St. Lawrence River, as far south as the St. John's River in Florida, and is most abundant in the Chesapeake Bay and Hudson River.
