Semotilus atromaculatis - Creek Chub (Cyprinidae)
Inhabitant of creeks and small streams in the spring where bottoms are of sand, gravel and boulders, definite riffles and pools deep enough to provide sufficient cover in times of danger. Moves to deeper pools of larger streams during low and warn water and during the winter. West side of Appalachians, black blotch on dorsal fin.
