Eastern Milk Snake

The Eastern Milk Snake has a single anal plate. The belly is a white or cream colored with dark square splotches to give a "checkerboard effect (Figure a)." The body is gray or tan with chocolate brown to reddish brown blotches that cross over the back and down each side. The back of the head has a "Y" or "V" pattern that goes from the nape of the neck extending to the head.
