Welcome to the home page of the Teagle Diversity Project at Washington & Jefferson College. The Teagle Diversity Project is a collaborative effort to enhance diversity both in an out of the classroom. W&J is partnering with Ursinus College (PA), McDaniel College (MD), Goucher College (MD), and Washington College (MD) to explore ways in which the institutions can assist each other in fostering a more supportive environment for diversity. This partnership is being funded for a three-year period (2009-2011) by the Teagle Foundation.

While a full description of the grant is available upon request, the central elements of the project are summarized below:
Talk and Action: We will be hosting campus conversations about diversity in an effort to take action on diversity initiatives. Our motto is "Action First!"
Internal Collaboration: The Teagle Diversity Project represents intentional collaboration between Academic Affairs and Student Life to engage our students as "whole students."
Team Visits: During each year of the grant, we will host a Visiting Team from one of the collaborating schools, and we will send a team to one of the schools. Thus far, we have been visited by both McDaniel and Ursinus College, and we have sent teams to Goucher and Washington College.
Diversity Scholars: The grant provides funding for an annual student-faculty summer project on a diversity-related topic. The student will present the project at the Ursinus summer conference of student research.
Data Analysis: We are working with our partner institutions to gather and analyze data related to diversity.
We would welcome your feedback and ideas for how we might work together to enhance the climate for diversity at W&J.
