Applicants to Washington & Jefferson College are asked to submit a completed application for admission, $25 nonrefundable application fee, complete official high school record, current rank-in-class, and all SAT or ACT scores, unless applying Score Optional. Letters of recommendation and extracurricular activities also will be considered.
In reviewing a student’s academic record, the Admission Committee will look for a minimum of 15 academic units in the following distribution:
-
Three units of academic English
-
Three units of academic mathematics, including Algebra I and II and Geometry
-
Two units of the same foreign language
-
One unit of history, social science, or natural science
-
And six or more academic courses from the above areas
Most applicants have more than the minimum academic units. Primary emphasis is placed upon the academic record and rank-in-class, followed by standardized test scores, extracurricular activities and personal statement. The highest available standardized test scores are reviewed, so be sure to send all scores to the Office of Admission.
