A poverty simulation is an interactive experience designed to give participants an idea of what it is like to live in poverty.During the simulation, a large room is set up to resemble a town, with community resources including a bank, a utility company, a school, and so on. During the simulation, 60—80 participants will have the opportunity to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. The experience is divided into four 15-minute sessions, each of which represents one week in which you must provide for your family and maintain your home. The simulation is followed by a guided discussion.

If you would like to participate, reserve your spot by emailing volunteer@washjeff.edu.
