Scholarships

The following scholarships are accepting applications. Visit their site to read requirements and deadlines for application.

Students enrolled for 2013-2014 academic year may apply for the Presbyterian Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is for $1200 and is renewable each year. Applicants must be a member of a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) within the bounds of the following presbyteries: Beaver-Butler, Kiskiminetas, Lake Erie, Pittsburgh, Redstone Shenango, Upper Ohio Valley and Washington.   Financial need must be demonstrated and is determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Many credit unions offer scholarships to their members. Check with your credit union to see if there are any scholarship opportunities available.

Taylor Gifts if offering at $1000 scholarship to students who complete an essay on a given topic. Entries must be submitted by June 15, 2014. Visit their site for more information.

ChristmasOrnaments.com is offering a $500 scholarship to creative students who want to design their own ornament. Details and rules of the contest can be found on their website. Entries must be sumitted by May 31, 2014.

Creative students are encouraged to enter the Gallery Collection Create-a-Greeting card contest to win a $10,000 scholarship. Entries are being accepted starting April 15, 2014 through February 18, 2015. The winner will be announded on April 24, 2015. More information can be found on their website.

Citizens Bank is offering a TruFit Good Citizen Scholarship worth $5000. Applications will be accepted beginning April 15, 2014. An essay must be submitted. Visit their site for more information.

Current college students are encouraged to apply for a $1,000 scholarship through A Place for Mom. A letter of introduction and a 500 word minimum essay must be submitted. Students must be majoring in a social service field. Visit their site for more information. Deadline for entry is April 30, 2014.

Hartford Technology Rentals is offering a $1000 scholarship to Junior and Senior college level students with an Information Technology major. A GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4 scale is required, along with financial need. Applications are due by April 30, 2014.

Grasshopper.com is offering a $5000 scholarship to the student who submits the best essay on entrepreneurship no later than April 20, 2014. Visit their site for more details.

SafeMart is offering a $500 scholarship to students who submit a 500 word (max) essay on "What is priceless to you?" Deadline for entry is May 31, 2014.

Moriarty's Gem Art is offering the Rock Hound Scholarship. Students majoring in the field of Science are eligible to win $500 towards their college education after completing a survey. Entries must be received by December 25, 2014.

Best Price Nutrition is offering a $1000 scholarship to students who complete their survey. Deadline for entry is December 31, 2014.

Mass Mutual Life Insurance is offering scholarships of up to $5,000 to students who have an interest in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industries. Athnet Sports is awarding a $1000 scholarship to students who write the winning essay on how sports have impacted their lives. Essay's must be submitted by May 1, 2014. More information is available on their website.

Vandelay Web is offering two $1000 scholarships to students who write an essay on the future of technology. More information can be found on their website. Deadline for entry is May 1, 2014.

The Harrisburg Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering two scholarships for the Fall 2014 semester. Criteria and application information can be viewed here.

Thermo Scientific is offering scholarships to Science majors ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 dollars. The criteria is listed on their website. Deadline for entry is August 1, 2014.

Quickship Toner is offering a $1500 scholarship to students who submit a 1500 word essay on a given topic.  To be considered for Fall 2014, essay must be submitted by June 15, 2014.

Liljegren Law Group is offering a two $500 scholarships to students in military families. HotelsCheap is offering a college scholarship to students aspiring to achieve a higher education. Students face rising cost of tuition, often times without an increase in financial aid. Having been to college ourselves, HotelsCheap would like to contribute toward our future generation and help those in need achieve their goals. This needs-based scholarship is designed to help students who have demonstrated the commitment to improving themselves. Students entering a two-year, four-year, or Graduate program are encouraged to apply.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the nations largest non-profit organization supporting Hispanic higher education. The Washington County Community Foundation is home to more than 30 permanent scholarships, and each has its own eligibility and criteria requirements. Many scholarships target students graduating from specific high schools, some for specific areas of study and others for financial need. Each scholarship is unique according to its donor's wishes. Ayn Rand has several essay contests on a variety of subjects that award scholarship money.

Many scholarships are available for both undergraduate and graduate students from The Institute for Humane Studies, which also offers fellowships for Graduate students. The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. They are offering an annual scholarship of $500 to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Deadline for applicatins is June 20, 2014.
