About

The Department of Art, housed in Olin Fine Arts Center, offers courses, independent study and internship opportunities that immerse students in the history and culture of both classical and modern art, as well as the practical application of creating art through various mediums.

The Olin Fine Arts Gallery serves as a showcase for students’ work. It also hosts five professional exhibitions each academic year, and a workshop or gallery talk by exhibiting artists accompanies each show.

The department offers majors in Art Education and Studio Art, both emphasizing creative thinking and visual expression through a series of studio courses. Courses in drawing and design, ceramics, sculpture and painting and offered. The department also offers a concentration in graphic design in collaboration with the Department of Computing and Information Studies.
