Frank Sworden

A veteran among western Pennsylvania football coaching circles, Frank Sworden returns for his third season in his second stint as an assistant coach at Washington & Jefferson in 2010. For the third-straight year, Sworden will work with the Presidents' secondary and spend time as a defensive consultant.

Sworden spent two seasons as a W&J assistant coach 30 years ago, serving as the offensive line coach and then the defensive coordinator in 1978 under Head Coach Pat Mondock.

After leaving W&J, Sworden became the head coach at McGuffey High School from 1979-2001. He is the school's all-time coaching victories leader (122-98-6). In 1994, Sworden helped McGuffey win the WPIAL AAA Championship. He was a teacher in the McGuffey School Distict from 1979-2006.

Since 2001, Sworden has served as an assistant coach at Trinity High School. He has been inducted in the West Liberty College, Tri-County Football Coaches and PSFCA halls of fame. Sworden also has assistant coaching experience at West Virginia Wesleyan College (1973-1977), Columbus North High School (1969-1970) and Canon-McMillan High School (1970-1973).
