Mark Thomchick
Mark Thomchick graduated from Washington & Jefferson in May 2010 and returned to his alma mater as an assistant baseball coach for a third season during the 2012-13 academic year.
During the summer of 2012, Thomchick served as an assistant coach for the Cotuit Kettleers of the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League under Head Coach Mike Roberts, former head man at the University of North Carolina. He helped lead the Kettleers to the top regular-season record at 30-14. and the team also boasted the three-leading hitters in the league.
Thomchick has been involved in all four of W&J’s appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. During his second season on the coaching staff, Thomchick led the team to a school-record 36 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.
He helped the Presidents win 122 games and make the school's first two appearances in the NCAA Baseball Regionals during his four-year playing career. W&J placed fourth at the 2009 South Regional in Salisbury, Md.
Thomchick, a left-handed hitting catcher, ranks among the all-time leaders at W&J in numerous career statistical categories, including home runs (21, 2nd), walks (51, 6th) and runs batted in (91, 7th). During his final two years, the Indiana, Pa., native smacked 18 homers and knocked in 81 runs.
During the summer of 2013, Thomchick will serve as head coach of the Laurel Auto Group baseball squad of the All-American Amateur Baseball Association in Johnstown, Pa.
