The NMNH offers a number of internships for undergraduates, including the Smithsonian Minority Internship Program, the Natural History Internship Program, the Arctic Studies Center in Anchorage (Alaska) Internship Program, The Laboratories of Analytical Biology Program, Naturalist Center in Loudoun County (Virginia) Internship Program, and Smithsonian Marine Station at Ft. Pierce (Florida) Internship Program. The Research Training Program is designed for undergraduates considering careers in anthropology, systematic biology and natural history research. There are lectures, discussions, workshops, and field trips to collection areas. There are laboratory demonstrations in biological diversity and molecular systematics.
