Understanding Your Billing Statement

Here are some things you need to know when reviewing your education costs:

  • Fall semester statements are for tuition, fees, room, and board for the first half of the academic year and may include a carryover balance from prior semesters. These are sent in July and are due by early August. Spring statements are sent in December and are due by early January.
  • For families who are unable to make a one large, lump-sum payment, W&J has partnered with Sallie Mae to offer the 'Tuition Pay Plan.'  There is a variety of monthly or semester options that provide an interest-free way to pay educational expenses, and the earlier families enroll, the more options they will have to choose from. Call 800-635-0120 or visit tuitionpay.salliemae.com/washjeff to get enrolled in a plan.
  • All new students are required to pay a $200 security deposit. This is not to be confused with the $200 matriculation fee that was paid when you were accepted to the College. Continuing students who have had their security deposits reduced by residence hall damage charges are required to replenish their balances  to the $200 level.
  • You may deposit money to your Jay Cash account which allows you to use your College ID card as an accepted form of debit card in the Bookstore, The Commons, George & Tom's Snack Bar, and the Barista. This may be done in person at the Business Office or through the "On-Line Payments" page of our website.
  • Adjustments to your student account for charges such as laboratory fees, private music instruction fees, etc. may be necessary after classes have begun and the Add/Drop period has passed. If you have any questions about your statement, please call the Business Office at 724-223-6014. Questions regarding financial aid should be directed to the Office of Financial Aid at 724-223-6019.
  • Please be advised that account balances which have not been resolved by September 30th will be assessed a $500 late payment fee for the fall semester, with February 28th being the resolution date for the spring semester.
  • We realize that there is a great deal of paperwork required to process and secure financial aid or to enroll in the payment plan, and both the Business Office and the Office of Financial Aid wish to assist you as much as we can to complete the paperwork as quickly as possible. However, please be aware that by the mid-term point of each semester, College policy requires that that we begin the process of administratively withdrawing any student who has not finalized the paperwork nececssary to resolve their account.
  • The student's campus e-mail address is the official notification method used by the Business Office and is the place where all monthly e-statements will be sent. It is the student's responsibility to see to it that the party responsible for their payments has been forwarded copies of these.
