Assistant Director of Residential Life: Housing Operations

Washington & Jefferson College is seeking an Assistant Director of Residential Life: Housing Operations. Reporting to the Director of Residential Life, the Assistant Director of Residential Life is a member of a three person residence life team (Director of Residential Life and an Assistant Director of Residential Life: Residential Education) who share  the goal of enhancing the student experience and providing quality services for the students at W & J College. The Assistant Director of Residential Life is responsible for fostering a student centered community where faculty involvement and a broad range of developmental programming initiatives are valued. The Assistant Director is responsible for the ongoing welfare of the communities under their purview, providing staff supervision and supporting all aspects of the Residential Life program. In addition, the Assistant Director coordinates housing process. The Assistant Director serves as an Administrator on Call as part of an on-call system; this is a live on position.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director is responsible supervising a para-professional staff of 15-20 resident assistants and 3-5 Residential Area coordinators. In addition to working within residential communities to promote a positive student experience the Assistant Director will coordinate housing operations. This includes oversight of the housing selection and placement processes; opening and closing processes related to residential facilities; facilities management in collaboration with College facilities staff; working with external contractors to provide amenities for residential students; and the development of administrative processes related to housing. The Assistant Director will serve as a member of the on call team and will serve on various college committees.

Minimum Qualifications  
Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel or related field and a minimum of two years progressive responsibility and successful experience in student housing or a related field. Individual must demonstrate a clear understanding of student development theories and have the ability to apply the theories in practical situations. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate a strong customer service orientation, and demonstrate computer proficiency with standard office applications.
