C.J. Corcoran Places 19th At NCAA Championships
CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Washington & Jefferson College senior C.J. Corcoran (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) placed 19th on Saturday in the women's javelin event at the 2012 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at Burns Track on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Corcoran competed in the javelin event for the second-straight season after claiming 16th place a year ago. She is just the second President in school history to compete in the javelin national championship, joining NCAA champion Jaimee Heffner '99. Heffner won her national title in 1997.
Corcoran's top throw Saturday measured 38.28 meters (125'7"). Cal Lutheran senior Britlyn Garrett was crowned national champion after producing a throw of 47.14 meters (154'8"). Carroll senior Amanda Trieloff was second at 44.91 meters (147'4").
Corcoran, also a four-year member of the W&J swimming & diving team in the winter, was the 2011 Presidents' Athletic Conference Field MVP.
