Head Coach: Lou Biancaniello

W&J is proud to announce Lou Biancaniello as the new Head Coach for Men’s Club Ice Hockey.

     "I am very humbled and excited for the opportunity I have been given to be the next head coach of the Washington and Jefferson Presidents ice hockey team. I feel that this is one of the most prestigious programs in the area and I am proud to be a part of the tradition that has been established already, and continuing that success over the seasons to come. I am looking forward to bringing an up-tempo and exciting brand of hockey to both the players and fans, and am committed to building a championship caliber program." - Biancaniello

Coach Biancaniello is USA Hockey Certified Master level (5) Coach and has over 20 years of ice hockey experience as a player, referee and coach. He is a veteran coach with over 13 years experience at the High School and Midget level. He has coached with esteemed programs including Penn Hills, Gateway, Upper St Clair, and most recently has helmed the resurgence at Chartiers Valley. Prior to his arrival, the team had a record of 3-18.  During his tenure with Chartier Valley, the team has made their first AA playoff appearance and went on to the Penguins Cup Semi-Finals.  

Biancaniello has also coached at the Midget Minor and Major levels, most recently working with the Phantom Fireworks (now SHAHA Panthers) AAA Split Season team. Besides his high school and travel experience, Biancaniello has been a Gold Medal winning coach at the Keystone State Games and has coached with Team Pittsburgh as either a head or assistant coach each of the last 3 seasons.


 
Goaltenders Coach: Sean Moloney

The W&J Hockey program is proud to announce the addition of World-renowned Goaltending Coach Sean Moloney to the Coaching staff. Coach Moloney comes to W&J after spending the 2010-11 season at IUP. Prior to his season at IUP, he spent 5 very successful years at Robert Morris, during which 2 of his Goaltenders were invited to join RMU's NCAA team, and he coached Goaltender Jonathan Hoffmann to 2007-08 ACHA All-American honours. Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario Coach Moloney has been developing Goaltenders throughout the US and more extensively Canada for over 15 years. His students can currently be found at all levels of Junior, College, and Professional Hockey in North America and Europe. He is also currently the director of Building Blocks Goaltending summer Goaltending school. Coach Moloneywill join the Presidents' staff on a part-time basis effective when the schedule resumes after the Holiday break. In addition to Coaching the Goaltenders, he will also be heavily involved in recruiting and promotions.

"When I first was hired to lead the W&J hockey program, Coach Moloney was one of the first people I thought of. When he became available, it was a no brainer to bring him on board. His knowledge of the goaltending position is unparalleled in this area. Also, his dedication and love of the game will be a huge asset to the program. We are fortunate to have Coach Moloney, and I personally look forward to working with him in our quest to be a national contender." Coach Biancaniello. 

The entire program is pleased to welcome a Coach and individual of Coach Moloney's calibre to the W&J Hockey community. "I'm truly grateful to Coach Biancanello for this opportunity." Moloney said. "To have the chance to work with a Coach and Man I respect and admire so highly is a real honour. I'm looking forward to working with him, the rest of the staff, and the players as we build great things for this program and the University."
