Colin Izzo Named To PING All-Region Golf Team
WASHINGTON, Pa. – The 2012 Division III PING All-Region Men’s Golf Teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday night and Washington & Jefferson College sophomore Colin Izzo (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) earned a selection to the Mid-Atlantic Team.
Izzo was one of 12 golfers selected from the region and was the only Presidents’ Athletic Conference player recognized.
Izzo finished his second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Wednesday with a two-over par score of 74 on the El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort (Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.). Izzo carded four birdies during his second round and he is currently tied for 97th place with a two-day score of 10-over par 154 (80-74).
Izzo’s second-round score of 74 is currently tied for the fifth-lowest round in the clubhouse on the El Campeon course Wednesday.
The April 10th Presidents’ Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week owns a 76.4 stroke average in 19 competitive rounds this year. He shot a season-low 72 at the Carnegie Mellon Fall Invitational at Longue Vue Country Club. Izzo was named to the All-PAC First Team after a fourth-place finish at the conference championship. He was also the eighth-place finisher at the Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted at Hershey Country Club.
Last season, Izzo averaged 77.6 shots in a team-high tying 20 rounds. He tied for fourth place at the 2011 PAC Championship Tournament.
