Communication Arts

The Department of Theatre and Communication was renamed the Department of Communication Arts in 2014.

Intersession Radio Drama

The Department of Communication Arts provides broad skills preparation and exposure to an array of paths toward careers that require creative and professional communication. The interdisciplinary major in Communication Arts includes optional specializations in Theatre, Film Studies, Rhetoric, or Public Relations. A minor in Communication Arts also is available.

Hands-on experience is available in the department’s labs—the main stage of Olin Fine Arts Center and the WNJR radio station—as well as in courses at Pittsburgh Filmmakers, one of the oldest and largest media arts centers in the United States. All students are encouraged to complete internships to get real-world experience.

Department alumni are working as media managers, radio reporters, lawyers, news anchors, writers, educators, actors, journalists, artists, and producers.

Additional course information is available in the W&J College Catalog.
