Welcome to Summer School at W&J!  We are looking forward to offering an exciting array of courses that will allow you to increase your knowledge and skills while also satisfying requirements and making progress toward your degree.  This page contains information about course listings, registration, tuition/fees, housing, and important dates

Course Descriptions:Click on the following link (Course Descriptions ).

  1. Select the Department of the course that you are interested in.
  2. On the left menu bar, click on "All Courses."  This will give you the catalog description of the courses offered by that Department.  In some cases (e.g., BIO 100), the catalog description is for a "shell" course, where the specific topic may well vary.  The course title in the Summer School listing of courses should provide some additional clarification.  Please contact the Summer School office if you need additional information about any course descriptions.

Registration:  The final course offerings have been determined, based on both initial and supplemental registration totals.  Students may now register for the courses that are listed--up until the first day of classes (June 1 or July 6).

W&J Students:   W&J students can register for Summer School courses on W&J Advisor in the same way that they register for Fall 2009 courses.  Students who have been "cleared" to register for Fall 2009 are also cleared to register for Summer School courses.

Non-W&J Students:  Non-W&J students can register online on this website by clicking on the following link:

REGISTRATION FORM FOR NON-W&J STUDENTS

All Students:  We have completed both initial registration (April 29) and supplemental registration (May 18).  Students may continue to register for the courses which are being offered.

The initial registration period ended on April 29.  Based on registrations at that point, courses have been either guaranteed to run (Green Light), canceled (Red Light), or continued for Supplemental Registration (Yellow Light).  The Supplemental Registration period will run until May 18--at which point the final decision will be made for all Yellow Light courses.  Following this final decision, students will be able to register for any of the remaining courses.  Since student registrations determine which courses will be offered, we strongly encourage students to register before April 29.

Supplemental Registration (Deadline: May 18):  Starting on May 4, there will be a Supplemental Registration period.  This registration will be limited to those courses that are either "Green Light" or "Yellow Light" courses.  Those "Yellow Light" courses that secure sufficient registration during the Supplemental Registration will run; those "Yellow light" courses that do not secure sufficient registration during the Supplemental Registration will be closed.  Students who are in "Yellow Light" courses might then consider encouraging a friend (or friends) to sign up for the course in order to help it to run.

Tuition/Fees:   Tuition for Summer School 2008 will be $1985 per course.  Designated lab courses will have a $100 lab fee.  Travel courses may have other fees/expenses associated with the travel.  Full payment must be received before the start of classes.  For Summer Session I courses, payment must be received by May 29, 2009.  (Note: Invoices have been prepared and sent.  They should arrive by May 21.)

Housing Options:   On-campus housing will be available during Summer School.  The 2009 housing rates are as follows: $105/week (non air conditioned, double occupancy), $110/week (air conditioned, double occupancy), $110/week (non air conditioned, single occupancy), $135/week (air conditioned, single occupancy).  Types of accommodations are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you are interested in on-campus housing, you need to contact the Office of Residential Life (724-229-5120) to make those arrangements.  W&J has a variety of food options available during the summer.

Supplemental Registration.  We are now in the Supplemental Registration period (May 1-18).  The course listings (see below) have been updated in view of initial registration.  The listings on this site are color coded.  Courses with Green shading are being guaranteed; they will definitely run this summer.  Courses with Yellow shading are contingent, meaning that their final status depends on registration totals at the end of Supplemental Registration (May 18).  On May 18, those courses that have 3 or more tuition-paying students (4 or more for a lab course) will run; those courses with two or fewer tuition-paying students will be canceled.  For courses with exactly two tuition-paying students, there may (at the instructor's discretion) be a tutorial option.  We will contact such students after the May 18 deadline.
