WASHINGTON, Pa. –  Washington & Jefferson College junior Brandon Sansom (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-America Team.

The 133-pound Sansom is the first W&J wrestler to earn the academic honor from the NWCA since Jeremy Stragand in 2002.  He is the eighth President since 1986 named to the NWCA all-academic squad.

Sansom posted an 18-18 record this winter and ranked third on the team with nine falls.

In the classroom, Sansom majors in environmental science and biology and boasts a 3.59 grade-point average.

A three-year letter winner, Sansom is tied with teammate Zach Cecchetti (Apollo, Pa./Kiski) for 20th place on the W&J career win list.  Sansom owns a 51-52 overall record.  He also has produced 18 career victories by fall.

As a freshman in 2008, Sansom was a Second Team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference performer.
