W&J’S BRANDON SANSOM EARNS ACADEMIC HONOR FROM NWCA (3/11)
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College junior Brandon Sansom (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-America Team.
The 133-pound Sansom is the first W&J wrestler to earn the academic honor from the NWCA since Jeremy Stragand in 2002. He is the eighth President since 1986 named to the NWCA all-academic squad.
Sansom posted an 18-18 record this winter and ranked third on the team with nine falls.
In the classroom, Sansom majors in environmental science and biology and boasts a 3.59 grade-point average.
A three-year letter winner, Sansom is tied with teammate Zach Cecchetti (Apollo, Pa./Kiski) for 20th place on the W&J career win list. Sansom owns a 51-52 overall record. He also has produced 18 career victories by fall.
As a freshman in 2008, Sansom was a Second Team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference performer.
