Chad Moore returns for his eighth season as the head men's lacrosse coach at Washington & Jefferson College during the 2010-11 academic year.
Moore has guided W&J to back-to-back winning seasons, the first two in school history.
In 2009, the Presidents racked up eight victories to set the school's single-season record. W&J had a pair of three-game win streaks and rewrote the school's record book.
Among Moore's duties include coaching the team's man-up offense which the Presidents ranked fourth nationally in 2008 and 11th in 2010.
Zach Devilbiss '09 ended the season with two NCAA Division III scoring titles. He was first in the nation in points (5.62 ppg) and goals (4.54 gpg). Moore helped Devilbiss become the Presidents’ all-time leader in goals (122), assists (48), points (170) and shots (317).
W&J enters its 10th NCAA Division III varsity season in 2011 and Moore has helped bring some of the nation's top faceoff men to the Washington, Pa., campus. Two years ago, Dan Rosenberg '09 finished fifth in NCAA Division III in faceoff percentage.
Moore took over at W&J after serving as an assistant coach at Division III Roanoke College (Va.) from 2000-2003. The Maroons achieved great success during Moore’s years as an assistant, including an 11-5 season in 2003 and a No. 17 national ranking. Among Moore’s primary duties at Roanoke were working with the defense and the goalies as well as being the chief recruiter in Maryland, New York, Ohio and Virginia.
Prior to his experience at Roanoke, Moore was an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon (Va.) for one season. He also founded and started the first lacrosse program at Mars Hill College (N.C.) in 1998. From 1996-1998, Moore also served as the assistant coach at his alma mater and Division II power, Limestone College (S.C.), for two years.
Moore has also worked numerous lacrosse camps during his coaching career, including serving as the assistant director of the Roanoke Lacrosse Camp as well as the Bill Pilat Goalie School.
On December 2, 2006, Moore married his wife Stephani. Stephani is the assistant softball coach at California University (Pa.) and the couple currently resides in Canonsburg, Pa. The Moore's are the proud parents of their newborn son, Colin, born on August 6, 2008.
