FAULK NAMED PAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR; W&J PLACES THIRD (4/24)
ERIE, Pa. -- Senior Chris Faulk (Washington, Pa./Washington) {pictured} led the Washington & Jefferson College men’s tennis team to a third-place finish at the 2010 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships after winning the No. 1 singles bracket and being crowned the 2010 PAC Player of the Year. He is just the third W&J men’s tennis player in the past 21 years to accomplish the feat.
Gary Tan (2006) and W&J Hall of Fame member Mike Kluska (1986-89) were the last two Presidents to win a PAC No. 1 singles men’s tennis title.
Grove City captured its 20th consecutive PAC team championship after tallying 50 total points, followed by Waynesburg (28), W&J (19), Bethany (18), Westminster (12) and Thomas More (10). Grove City Head Coach Joe Walters was named the PAC Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season.
Faulk defeated Grove City’s Ricky Garrett (6-0, 6-3) in the No. 1 singles championship match. Faulk finished his career at W&J with a 25-12 overall record in singles matches.
Junior David Dubois (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton), freshman exchange student Brice Manin (Lyon, France/Lycee Francisque Sarcey) and senior Cameron Sell (Cumberland, Md./Bishop Walsh) all took home the third-place trophy in their respective brackets.
Manin defeated Thomas More’s Evan Bryan (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 2 singles third-place match, while Dubois knocked off Bethany’s Levi Naylor (6-4, 6-4) in the No. 3 singles consolation match. Sell rounded out W&J’s third-place finisher in the No. 6 singles match, defeating TMC’s Ricky Barria (6-2, 6-3).
Faulk and Manin, who finished the season with a 9-3 record in doubles play, were defeated by Garrett and Peter Davis of Grove City by a score of 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles championship match. Faulk and Manin earned second team All-PAC honors with their second-place showing.

In dual matches, Faulk teamed with Pat Kennedy and posted a 6-1 record a year ago. In his three years at W&J, Faulk is 18-8 in singles play and 21-5 in doubles matches.
