T HockmanTAYLOR HOCKMAN NAMED TO USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM (7/29)

USTFCCA All-Academic Team

WASHINGTON, Pa.  -- Washington & Jefferson College rising junior Taylor Hockman (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team on Wednesday.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must compile a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher and have met either the NCAA Division III indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Hockman is one of 202 student-athletes from 74 different colleges or universities named to the national academic squad.  He is the only honoree from the Presidents' Athletic Conference. 

He provisionally-qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships after posting a PAC Championship winning jump of 23'4" in the long jump on May 1. 

Hockman, who holds a 3.33 GPA, also placed fifth at the conference championships in the 200 meters (23.21) and helped the Presidents' 4x100 meter relay (43.43) claim third place in a season-best time. 

Hockman recorded Washington & Jefferson's best 100-meter dash time of the year (11.43) at the PAC South Quad on April 21st in Bethany, W.Va.  He also was part of the Presidents' best relays of the spring season.  Hockman ran the second leg on the 4x100 meter relay and anchored the 4x400 squad's best finish of 3:28.24. 

During the indoor season, Hockman notched team-best times in the 55 (6.90) and 60 (7.40) meter dashes.
