H1N1 Vaccine and Flu Shots

Many questions are being asked regarding the H1N1 Vaccine and the Flu Shot – For example, are they covered under our health plan? If either is recommended by a physician, and is received from the office of a participating provider, then the shot will be covered under your Highmark PPO Blue plan; however, a physician can charge a copay for the office visit if they elect to do so. If a flu shot is received for example at a drug store, place of employment or flu shot clinic/traveling bus – it will not be covered under your program because the drug store, etc. offering the vaccine is not considered a provider under the medical provision of your health plan.
