Education students at
Washington
and
Jefferson
College
celebrated Earth Science Week during October 11-17. They explored “understanding climate in the great outdoors†incorporating earth science activities across the curriculum to support earth science literacy. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors discovered why Earth Science is important to society and how it is relevant to elementary and secondary curriculum. Teaching Methodologies for the Elementary Curriculum students were out-of-doors using naturalistic and bodily kinesthetic intelligences. The students explored animal habitats using bar, pictographs and pie charts for plants, leaves, and flowers. In Differentiated Instruction & Assessment, seniors explored banned books, the poetry of Langston Hughes Into the Earth, and researched The Spelling Bee withan outdoor spelling contest. Photographed is Dr. Carpenter’s class with microteacher Stephanie Lucsko and senior students collecting items from around campus.
