Our Mission
The Athletic Club or Pete Henry Society (PHS) was established to carry on the College’s tradition of athletic excellence. The PHS is committed to securing support for quality athletics and enriching the experience of student-athletes and the College community. Together, the PHS ensures that Presidents Athletics are—in true W&J style—“revolutionary.”

Our Goals
The College formed the Pete Henry Society (PHS) in 2000 as a support organization for W&J’s 23 NCAA Division III varsity teams, as well as a variety of other programs sponsored by the Department of Athletics. Gifts to the PHS provide annual support to supplement team and program budgets. The PHS strives to provide additional resources for W&J Athletics programs to ensure all student-athletes, regardless of sport, receive championship athletic experiences.

Can I Support a Specific Program?
Yes! By joining the W&J Athletic Club, you have an opportunity to support athletics in general as well as the teams and programs of your choice. The first $50 of each gift will go in support of all W&J athletics through the new, specially-created Athletics Enhancement Fund. The remainder of the gift may be designated to any team or program area of choice. For W&J Athletic Club gifts of less than $100, half of the gift will support athletics through the Athletic Enhancement Fund, with the other half going to the area of choice.

For example, a gift of $500 to the wrestling team would result in $450 going to the wrestling team and $50 going to athletics in general. For a gift of $50 to basketball, $25 would to go to the basketball team, and $25 to Washington & Jefferson athletics.

Remember that all gifts to the Washington & Jefferson College Athletic Club of at least $1,000 earn you membership in our prestigious John McMillan Society!

I Already Support the W&J Fund. How is the W&J Athletic Club Different?
While your gift to the W&J Fund, our annual fundraising drive, is very important in helping support the most immediate areas of need at W&J, you’re encouraged to make a gift to the W&J Athletic Club as well. Because you can specify what team or program you want to benefit from your gift, you can rest assured knowing that your generous contribution will support exactly what you wish it too. Why not consider making a gift to the W&J Fund and to our new W&J Athletic Club?

Where Does the Money Go?
All gifts to the W&J Athletic Club are used only to support our teams and programs. Only small amounts of unrestricted gifts are used to pay for expenses associated with the W&J Athletic Club (i.e., printing, mailing, etc.).
