$elling of the Sea... Financial Impact...Economics of Tourism

Description:

The cruise industry is facing a range of challenges on the marine operations side, ranging from environmental regulations to human engineering, new technology, alternative fuels and public perception. We explored both the financial impact and economic impact of these and other factors for the cruise industry and the local ports of call through a 21 day European Cruise to 9 countries and 11 ports. These countries included: Spain, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Malta, Portugal and Canary Islands. The students were in Egypt on January 9-10, 2011 and were one of the last U.S. student groups to get into the country before the state department ended all student groups on January 15th.

Instructors: Dr. Leslie Dunn and Dr. Lori J. Galley

Posing in front of a pryamid in Cairo, Egypt, students document a world wonder.

Taking a casual camel ride, students along with Dr. Galley, bask in a beautiful sunny day.
