V-Day

What is VDAY?

“V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works (taken from V-Day.org).”

For 2013, The Vagina Monologues will benefit the One Billion Rising campaign.  V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, 2.14.13, they are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence, to learn more visit VDAY. The Washington Women’s Shelter, will be the local beneficiary.  Although proceeds are going to these two areas, The Vagina Monologues benefits everyone by raising awareness of violence against women and girls all over the world.

Men play an equally important part in the mission of V-Day.  Every year Washington & Jefferson College has several men volunteer to pass out information, sell merchandise and become a complete part of  the V-Day group.  At Washington & Jefferson College, we understand this is not a women’s issue but a community issue.
