Through collaboration with multi-faceted environmental projects such as Nine Mile Run in Pittsburgh, the Program provides students an opportunity to gain practical experience with issues of environmental restoration, urban renewal, and economics.Senior Research in Environmental Studies 

This course of guided research is the culminating experience for students in the Environmental Studies Program or for students in other programs wishing to merge their major fields of study with environmental topcis. The course is begun during the fall term of the senior year by preparing and presenting a research proposal and initiating the research work. During the spring term of the senior year, research work continues, culminating in a thesis presented in written and oral form. The student is co-advised by the Director of Environmental Studies and another chosen faculty member or professional in the student's area of research
 
This core course in the EVS Major is offered every fall/spring and may count as a capstone experience in other college deparments or programs and in thematic majors.
