The following scholarships are accepting applications. Visit their site to read requirements and deadlines for application.

Students enrolled for 2014-2015 academic year may apply for the Presbyterian Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is for $1200 and is renewable each year. Applicants must be a member of a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) within the bounds of the following presbyteries: Beaver-Butler, Kiskiminetas, Lake Erie, Pittsburgh, Redstone Shenango, Upper Ohio Valley and Washington.   Financial need must be demonstrated and is determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Many credit unions offer scholarships to their members. Check with your credit union to see if there are any scholarship opportunities available.

The Martha Washington Garden Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a Washington County student who has completed at least one year of secondary education and plans to continue in agricultural or environmental programs. Interested applicants should provide their name, address and contact information; submit a maximum 400word essay about their interests and decision to choose this course of study; and submit a copy of their transcripts. Information should be mailed to: Iva Lea Clark, Box 42, Scenery Hill, PA 15360. Deadline to apply is July 31.

Best Price Nutrition is offering a $1000 scholarship to students who complete their survey. Deadline for entry is December 31, 2014.

Wimdu is offering a $2000 scholarship to students who are in their final year of study in a Marketing, Business Administration, or Communication degree. Students must submit an essay by September 30, 2014. More information is available on their website.

Goedekers is offering a $500 scholarship students who submit an essay by July 31, 2014. Visit their site for more information.

Moverscorp.com invites students to write an essay sharing their stories of relocating.  The scholarship is worth $500. Details can be found on their website. Deadline for the fall 2014 scholarship is July 15, 2014.

The Harrisburg Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering two scholarships for the Fall 2014 semester. Criteria and application information can be viewed here.

Thermo Scientific is offering scholarships to Science majors ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 dollars. The criteria is listed on their website. Deadline for entry is August 1, 2014.

Varsity Tutors runs a monthly scholarship contest where students answer a prompt to be eligible for a $1000 scholarship. Visit their site for more information.

Sixt rent a car is offering high school seniors a $5,000 scholarship.  For more information and to apply, visit their website.

Foreclosure.com is offering a scholarship to a student who writes an essay on the recent foreclosure crisis. Five winners will be chosen, with the top prize being $5000. More information is available on their website. Deadline for entry is Dec. 15, 2014.

SES Advisors,  Heart On Your WristCorcentric, and Active Data are all offering scholarships based on essay questions. Visit their sites for further information and entry deadlines.

Resume Companion is offering a $1000 scholarship to students who can create a resume for a fictional or non-fictional character from TV, history, literature or myth.  Applications received through July 15, 2014 will be awarded for the Fall 2014 semester.

Kids Chance of Pennsylvania is offering scholarships to children of injured workers who meet the criteria for Pennsylvania's Worker's Compensation Act. Visit their site for further information and guidelines.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the nations largest non-profit organization supporting Hispanic higher education. The Washington County Community Foundation is home to more than 30 permanent scholarships, and each has its own eligibility and criteria requirements. Many scholarships target students graduating from specific high schools, some for specific areas of study and others for financial need. Each scholarship is unique according to its donor's wishes. All scholarships are listed on this site as well as the links to apply. Applicants must be a resident of the Washington County area.

The Pittsburgh Foundation will help you find scholarships to suit your needs. There are a variety of scholarships based on fields of study, residency and interests.

Ayn Rand has several essay contests on a variety of subjects that award scholarship money.

Many scholarships are available for both undergraduate and graduate students from The Institute for Humane Studies, which also offers fellowships for Graduate students.
