Phi Gamma Delta

The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta was founded on May 1, 1848 at Jefferson College. Shortly after being founded at Jefferson College, another chapter was founded at Washington College. When the colleges merged the chapter at Washington College became the Alpha Chapter.

We as a fraternity pride ourselves on the fact that we are a national Alpha chapter. It is very special that brothers throughout the United States and Canada come to Washington & Jefferson College just so they can see how the Alpha chapter really is. They can also travel to nearby Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, to the original log cabin where our six founding fathers had the first chapter meeting back in 1848.

Throughout the past 160 years the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta has grown to be one of the strongest fraternities in the world. We as Fijis are also proud of the many of our brothers who have become very famous over the years. Some of the Famous Phi Gams are Payne Stewart, Dean Smith, Hale Irwin, and many more. These are just a few of the great and successful people who decided to become a Fiji during their college days.
