Recently featured in the New York Times, two comic books, Die Entdeckung and Die Suche were developed to teach German youth about the Holocaust and the Third Reich. This workshop will introduce these texts and explore the use of Die Suche in the German classroom to give American students linguistic and cultural information about this very important historical period. After introductory lectures, participants will work in groups to discuss and develop “standards-based” instructional ideas and activities. A bibliography of related sources will be provided. The workshop will be conducted in German. Two hours of ACT 48 credits will be available for this workshop.
