Adelaide not only boasts the largest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere but also is home to the International Arts and Fringe Festival during even years. Be sure to check out the exciting visual and performing arts at this widely acclaimed festival.

Adelaide puts you just a short distance from the beaches, the mountains of the beautiful Flinders Ranges, and the Outback. The area has great camping and hiking and one of the most popular wine regions in the country.

Established in 1966, in a period of significant expansion of higher education in Australia, Flinders has grown to become a model for a modern university, being successful, progressive and dynamic yet still friendly and accessible. 

The Flinders campus is 20 minutes south of Adelaide’s Central Business District. The 180 hectare campus offers panoramic views of Adelaide’s metropolitan coast and suburbs. Modern buildings and facilities are set on spacious grounds of natural Australian bush, pine forests and gardens.

Program in Brief:

Flinders University is a progressive university with a flexible approach. Students can choose from a wide variety of courses at this university of 15,000, yet the smaller classes offer more personal attention.

Academic Program & Areas of Study:

Flinders has a great range of courses and allows students to cross-register across several departments. The education, nursing, psychology, and speech pathology departments are particularly well regarded. Be sure to check out the American studies, Australian studies, and drama departments as well.

Student Life:

Flinders is a highly diverse community with many nationalities, cultures, religions and languages represented among its students. International students make up 10% of the on-campus student population from more than 80 countries. The Union sponsors clubs and on-campus entertainment, including concerts, dance and theatre performances, and even an Orientation Ball at the beginning of each year. The athletic facilities are first rate and include outdoor playing fields for most sports, tennis courts, and two indoor sports centers.

Housing & Meals:

Students usually live in residential halls on campus and enjoy the hall's friendly, active atmosphere. The campus is spacious and modern, tucked into the hills next to a lake just outside the city of Adelaide. When university housing is unavailable, students share flats just outside the city.
