Areas of Study


Laura Evans has been a teacher and performer in the Pittsburgh area for more than 20 years.  She has been a member of the Wheeling Symphony since 1991 and the McKeesport Symphony since 2005. Evans is also a member of W&J’s Olin Fine Arts Trio.

A teacher devoted to her craft, Evans has taken numerous Suzuki method certification courses at institutes in Chicago, Baltimore, Ithaca and Kingston, Ontario.  She has taught privately and at institutions including the Rogers CAPA Middle School, Carnegie Mellon University’s Summer Strings Camp and the Seton Center Suzuki School. Her students have earned positions in Pittsburgh’s youth orchestras and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association district, regional and state orchestra festivals.

Evans holds a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University, where she studied cello with Salvatore Silipigni and chamber music with Richard Goldner and Ralph Evans.
