Major Requirements at a Glance

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 10 courses in music, including MUS 201 and MUS 202; MUS 205 and MUS 206; at least one other course at the MUS 200 level and two courses at MUS 300 level (one of these must reflect a world music topical area); MUS 401, typically taken during intersession senior year, with successful presentation of the senior music project; two full years (four consecutive semesters) of a W&J large ensemble; and two consecutive semesters of one performance experience such as applied study in voice or instrumental music, chamber music ensemble, camerata singers, or jazz ensemble.

Music majors should work with their adviser to find out when courses are available as some required courses are available only once in a two-year cycle. Senior project proposals must be submitted in writing a semester in advance to the music faculty for approval. Students should keep track of their progress using the checklist below.
