Areas of Study
Megan Lai is an assistant professor in the Biology Department. Her primary teaching areas include Molecular Biology (BIO311), General Biology Lab (BIO101L), Genomics (BIO317) and Experimental Biology (BIO412). Prior to joining W&J, Dr. Lai was a visiting faculty member at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
Dr. Lai's academic background is in molecular biology, virology, and genomics. Her research interest focuses the genetic replication and DNA-protein interactions in retroviruses. Dr. Lai currently uses genomic and molecular techniques to select and study the properties of DNA inhibitors (aptamers) for these retroviral enzymes. Dr. Lai hopes to expand her research to survey the genomic diversity of viruses at the Abernathy Field Station, as well as to seek for new aptamers for other key viral enzymes with students at W&J.
