Dr. East Begins Biochar Research at Rodale
Dr. Robert East, Associate Professor and Director of Environmental Studies, has begun a 5-plus-year study at the Rodale Institute examining the impacts of biochar on soil physical/chemical properties and crop yields. Visit http://rodaleinstitute.org/20110802_whats-the-big-deal-with-biochar for more details. Through the Cargill Grant, Dr. East will offer limited, paid opportunities for students to participate in this research. In addition, beginning in 2012, the Rodale Institute will host student interns to work on a wide range of research projects, from quality control in compost production to the use of constructed wetlands on agricultural landscapes. Interested students may contact Dr. East at reast@washjeff.edu.
