WASHINGTON, PA (Jan. 17, 2012)—The Core Ensemble, a music theatre troupe, will perform “Ain’t I a Woman” by Kim Hines at Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olin Fine Arts Center.
The Core Ensemble specializes in Chamber Music Theater, a type of performance where one actor or actress portrays multiple characters while interacting with an onstage musical trio.
“Ain’t I a Woman” celebrates the lives and times of four influential and significant African American Women: ex-slave and abolitionist Sojourner Truth, novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, folk artist Clementine Hunter and civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer.
