Areas of Study


Patrick Caffrey is an associate professor in the Department of History. He teaches nine courses about Asian history and World Environmental History, which surveys the effects humans have had on the natural environment and the effects that changes in the environment have on culture. He serves on the Campus Sustainability Committee, the International Studies Steering Committee, and on the Arbor Advisory, East Asian Studies, and Environmental Studies advisory committees. He is adviser to the Asian Culture Association. Dr. Caffrey's principal research interest is China’s environmental history.
