Magellan Project Description
This summer I had the opportunity to intern in private wealth management at UBS in New York City. I worked with Melinda Abood, a financial consultant with over 25 years of experience who specializes in bond transactions. Some of my projects included creating asset allocation presentations for clients and performing mutual fund and municipal bond research using Morningstar and Bloomberg software. I also got to attend meetings and speak with clients directly on a daily basis. Melinda really took the time to make sure I was learning and even let me put in bids for bonds for clients! Overall, this experience was a great complement to my prior internships at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney with W&J trustee, Bill Platt. Without Bill, the Magellan Awards, and Roberta Cross in career services, I could not have had such great experience.
How will your Magellan Project help with your plans after graduation? I plan to get a career in the finance industry, specifically in banking or analytical work. This experience has helped me to gain numerous contacts and interviews in this field already as I will be graduating this year.
