AREA OF STUDY
Courtney Grant is an active freelance violist in the Morgantown area. Ms. Grant received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance from The Pennsylvania State University and her Master of Music degree in Music Performance from the University of Delaware. She has also studied at the Peabody Conservatory while pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma. Currently she is pursuing a Docorate of Musical Arts at West Virginia University. Her primary teachers have included Dr. Timothy Deighton, Andrea Preister Houde, and Richard Field.
As an orchestral musician Ms. Grant has performed with the Lancaster Symphony, Pottstown Symphony, Washington Korean Symphony Orchestra and has served as principal violist for the Trinity Chamber Orchestra in Washington, D.C. for the past two years. In addition she has performed at the Endless Mountain Music Festival and the Masterworks Music Festival.
As a chamber musician Ms. Grant has been a founding member of the Graduate String Quartet at the University of Delaware, the Black Cat String Trio and the Riverside Quartet. Currently she is a member of the Graduate String Trio/Piano Quartet at WVU. She has played in master classes for many top chamber musicians including Peter Wiley, David Finckle, the Brooklyn Rider String Quartet and the Serafin String Quartet.
Ms. Grant currently resides in the Morgantown area with her husband (who is also a DMA student at WVU studying percussion) and their cats. Besides music she enjoys running, horseback riding and reading.
