Areas of Study
Mark Harris is an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry. He was trained as an organic chemist with an emphasis on the chemistry of DNA and he teaches organic chemistry, advanced organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, and biochemistry. On occasion he takes a dip into teaching oceanography. Dr. Harris is chair of the Biochemistry Major Advisory Committee. His students have done research on DNA structure, the synthesis of DNA analogs, and natural product isolation.
