Areas of Study

Hanna Kim is an associate professor in the Department of Philosophy. Dr. Kim's primary research areas are in the philosophy of language and aesthetics, while her teaching interests include logic, metaphysics, philosophy of mind and cognitive science. She has written about whether a semantic account of metaphor is possible and about the phenomenon of "impossible metaphors."  Dr. Kim has presented her research at the American Philosophical Association and American Society for Aesthetics, among other venues.
