David C. Novitsky is an adjunct professor in the Department of Religious Studies. Also known as Rabbi Dave, he was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Yeshiva University High School and College in New York City. He was ordained at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary in 1983. While attending rabbinical school he was enrolled in Touro Law School and received his J.D. simultaneously with his ordination. Rabbi Dave has served congregations in Philadelphia and New York as well as practicing law as a litigation attorney for almost fifteen years. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York and in various Federal Courts, as well as in the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Military Appeals.
Rabbi Dave has received numerous citations including a "Chaplain of the Year" award from the New York Board of Rabbis for his assistance to World Trade Center victims.
Rabbi Dave is the spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel, the only remaining synagogue in Washington County, Pa. In addition, he serves as an adjunct instructor at W&J.
