Magellan Project Description
I did research on female genital mutilation (FGM) and how it affects women’s lives with respect to marriage, education and employment.  In order to do my research I interned with a Gambian NGO that works to end FGM. I traveled to rural areas with them while they conducted educational programs, and was able to hear Gambian women’s stories about FGM.

How will your Magellan Project help with your plans after graduation?
Because I am an International Studies major and would like to live and work abroad, my experience in The Gambia will be invaluable. Also, it won’t look too shabby on my grad school applications!
