Theme Community Living

The Office of Residence Life encourages students to come together to form their own Theme Communities centered around common interests. These living environments create many opportunities for social and learning experiences that enhance the college experience for students.

Group Applications

If you are a member of a group of students (4 or more) and wish to propose a new Theme Community or wish to apply to live in an existing Theme Community as a group you must apply by March 8, 2013 using the Theme Community Group Application. Groups proposing a new Theme Community will be required to present a draft proposal to the Assistant Dean of Student Life & Director of Residence Life. Please contact the Office of residence Life for more details. Groups proposing new Theme Communities are interviewed by a committee composed of various members of the W&J community. Specific housing locations have not been selected for new Theme communities but locations for Theme communities will most likely be located in Presidents Row.

Individual Applications

It is not necessary to apply for a Theme Community as a group. Students interested in applying to live in a Theme Community as an individual or with a roommate should fill out the Theme Community Individual Application by April 12, 2013. Current and recurring Theme Communities include:

  • Pet House*
  • Enviornmental House
  • International House
  • Quiet Study House
  • Political Interest House

*Students interested in living in the Pet House must complete the Theme Community Individual Application and also submit the Pet House Agreement and Registration Form.
