When is the Scholarship Weekend?
Scholarship Weekend I is February 22-23, 2013 and Scholarship Weekend II is March 8-9, 2013.
How can I get to campus if I am flying into the Pittsburgh International Airport or arriving at the Amtrak train station?
Please notify the Office of Admission at least one week prior to the event, and we will have someone pick you up and bring you to campus.
When is Registration?
For Friday arrivals, Registration runs from 4–5:30 p.m. in the Admission House. For Saturday arrivals, Registration runs from 8:00–9:00 a.m. in the Ski Lodge. During Registration, you will receive a packet of information, including a final agenda, listing of campus activities, and campus map.
Do I have to arrive on Friday?
We prefer that you arrive on Friday. If you are unable, arriving on Saturday is fine.
Where will I spend the night on Friday and with whom?
Our Student Supervisors will pair you with a student host. You will meet your host during Registration and will stay in his/her room. Meals will be provided. Parents who wish to spend the night can make arrangements with a local hotel.
What should I bring?
Remember to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and appropriate toiletries. You should also bring clothing appropriate to wear to the Scholar’s Dinner on Friday evening. Business casual is suggested.
Will there be things to do on Friday night?
Yes! See the activity listing in your registration packet for full details. Parents are invited to an evening reception with members of the campus community.
When do I learn of my interview time?
The names of your interviewers as well as the location and time of your interview will be listed on the final agenda in your registration packet.
How long is the interview?
You will have one interview and it will last for thirty to forty-five minutes. Interviews are scheduled every half hour from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Who will be interviewing me?
Two people will be interviewing you—a W&J faculty member and an administrator or student.
What is the purpose of the interview?
The purpose of the interview is to give you the opportunity to earn additional merit aid.
What will the interviewers ask me?
The interviewers will ask you about your abilities, activities, and goals. They will also ask you about your interest in the College. Please be prepared to address why W&J is the right school for you.
Can I ask the interviewers questions?
Yes, please feel free to do so.
How shall I dress for the interview?
Business casual is suggested.
Will I be able to tour the campus?
Tours will be offered on Friday and Saturday. Also feel free to ask your host to take you around campus.
What if I am unable to attend Scholarship Weekend?
If special circumstances exist and you are unable to attend Scholarship Weekend, please call the Office of Admission to make alternative arrangements.
When can I expect to hear about the results of my interview?
We will notify recipients of additional merit aid within two weeks of the event.
