The Spark of Creation: Deconstructing and Demystifying Creativity

Do you have what it takes to be a creative genius? Inspiration might be closer than you think. This course examines the ways in which human beings can harness and express their creative potential, whether in the arts, sciences, humanities, or beyond. We will attempt to define creativity across the spectrum of liberal arts, drawing upon the products of philosophers, scientists, writers, musicians, and even everyday individuals to expand our understanding of the creative process. In addition, we’ll examine the characteristics of notable creators, and turn this knowledge to unlocking our own creative talents. Throughout the course, our goal is to make creativity less mysterious, more accessible, and thoroughly enjoyable, ultimately answering the question:  what does it mean to be creative, anyway?
