2012 W&J Women’s Tennis Preview

Five newcomers join a quintet of returnees as the Washington & Jefferson College women’s tennis team is set to begin its first season under the guidance of Head Coach Chris Faulk.

Faulk, a 2010 W&J graduate, joined the Presidents’ coaching staff in January and led the men’s squad to three victories during the spring. He is a former PAC Player of Year, earning the honor during the 2010 season after winning the league’s No. 1 singles title.

A pair of seniors will lead W&J in 2012. Danielle Ufolla, who also plays center field for the Presidents’ softball team, posted seven doubles victories and claimed three matches as the Presidents’ No. 4 singles player last season. Classmate Rachel Detts has recorded four singles victories and a pair of doubles triumphs during her career.

Junior Kathryn Mioduszewski has earned 13 match victories (5 singles, 8 doubles) in her first two seasons at W&J.  She was the Presidents’ No. 1 singles player in 2011. Classmate Kelsey Fox returns to the squad after winning eight matches during her freshman campaign, while sophomore Alexis Ferrari looks to build on a three-win rookie season.

The Presidents’ season begins on Sept. 8 with a PAC road match at Geneva beginning at 1:00 pm.
