2013 Women’s Tennis Season Preview
Following one of its best regular-seasons to date, the Washington & Jefferson College women’s tennis team is poised to build off a successful 2012 campaign and leap into the top half of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament final standings.
The Presidents posted a 7-5 overall record in head-to-head matches and a 6-3 mark against PAC foes. Second-year Head Coach Chris Faulk, along with a solid mix of returners and newcomers, hopes to improve upon last year’s sixth-place tournament showing.
Faulk returns four student-athletes from last season, including seniors Kathryn Mioduszewski and Jenna Supp. Supp took third place at No. 4 singles at the 2012 PAC Championships and registered the team’s best singles record at 12-2. The doubles duo of Mioduszewski and Supp will most likely be back together again after they finished as one of W&J’s strongest doubles teams.
Also back for the Presidents are sophomores Alexa Gross and Courtney Brennan. These returners bring experience in both singles and doubles action. Last year, Brennan posted a 7-3 record in singles play and was a part of a doubles tandem that logged the same record.
Along with the returners, Faulk completed his second recruiting class by bringing six new faces to the program, making this fall’s squad of the largest in program history.
